SUMMARY:The Art of Mindfulness
DESCRIPTION:Join us on December 5th from 6:45p-8:00p for “The Art of Mindfulness” at MoCA Westport. This meditative workshop is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for participants of all backgrounds and experience levels. In this program\, participants embark on a journey of self-awareness and bond with others through practicing mindfulness during a gallery tour at MoCA Westport\, culminating in a sound bath meditation experience led by Lisa Pak of Hummingbird Healing Center. \nSound bath meditations have been shown to reduce stress\, enable deep relaxation\, strengthen the immune system\, enhance creativity\, and uplift the spirit. Participants begin by lying down on yoga mats (think Savasana) and use blankets\, bolsters\, eye pillows\, and other props to become comfortable while the sound starts to “wash” over you. \nLisa uses a wide palate of sound healing instruments\, including gongs\, Himalayan bowls\, crystal bowls\, Native American-style flute\, percussion\, and vocals. She leads you through a journey of the senses\, eventually resting in a profound space of deep inner peace. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Music at MoCA: Django Festival Allstars
DESCRIPTION:Django’s unmistakable cool and jumping ‘joie de vivre’ style made him an icon for greats from Carlos Santana to Eric Clapton to Jimi Hendrix. Dorado\, Samson\, and Amati\, along with Francko Mehrstein on rhythm guitar and Gino Roman on bass carry on Django’s legacy. All are from the Lorraine region of France where Django’s music reigns supreme. The band has toured the US every year to top festivals\, concert halls and clubs such as The San Franciso Jazz Festival\, Newport Jazz The Kennedy Center\, Carnegie hall\, and 24 years at legendary Birdland in NYC! \nThis music will lift you up\, send your feet dancing in your seat as Dorado\, Samson and Amati swing like crazy. The group’s music transports listeners to Paris in the 1920s and ’30s\, when gitane music filled the air and Django was king. It was a romantic time in Paris in those days. The music today still thrills audiences and smells of romance with ballads that can break your heart!  \n“Sensational\, hardest swinging band at the Newport Jazz Festival” — Downbeat Magazine \n“Best show in town” — Wall Street Journal \n“Some of the best musicians in the world” — Leonardo DiCaprio \nClick here to purchase tickets.
