A new date and registration will be shared soon. \nThe presentation begins promptly at 6PM\, so come early to experience the exhibition and purchase a drink or cocktail! \nMore About Elizabeth Gorayeb \nElizabeth Gorayeb is Executive Director of the Wildenstein Plattner Institute\, Inc.\, a non-profit art historical research foundation based in New York. As the WPI’s founding director\, Elizabeth oversees the production of digital catalogue raisonnes for artists including Jasper Johns\, Paul Gauguin\, Claude Monet\, and spearheads a major digitization effort of art historical archives and documentation. For nearly two decades\, Elizabeth has specialized in art historical research on the provenance and attribution of works of art. As the senior vice president and senior specialist in the Impressionist and Modern Art department at Sotheby’s and as director of research\, Elizabeth led provenance research and restitution projects in London\, Paris\, and New York. Her research has facilitated the reattribution of major works of art\, including an important sculpture by Gauguin\, and led to the rediscovery of a painting by Venezuelan artist Arturo Michelena lost for 70 years. Elizabeth has lectured internationally about attribution and provenance research\, including presentations at The National Museum of Western Art\, Tokyo; Columbia Law School\, New York; The American Bar Association\, Miami; IFASIC Annual Conference\, Antwerp; Museum of Fine Arts\, Buenos Aires; International Catalogue Raisonne Association\, London; Catalogue Raisonne Scholars Association\, New York; Barberini Museum\, Potsdam; The Appraisers Association of America\, New York; The Museum of Fine Arts\, Montreal; The Carnegie Museum of Art\, Pittsburgh; and National Gallery of Ontario\, Toronto. Elizabeth is a graduate of Wellesley College and New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts. She lives with her family in Manhattan.

The band was integral to the music scene of the time\, playing at CBGBs\, touring Europe with the Ramones\, and creating hits like “Psycho Killer” and “Burning Down the House.” \nFrantz and Weymouth together also formed the funky spin-off group\, the Tom Tom Club. \nHis 2020 memoir\, Remain in Love: Talking Heads\, Tom Tom Club\, Tina shares his experiences in the music scene. \nRobert Steven Williams produced the CBGB Comic Book series (nominated for a Harvey). He also saved parts of the bar which were rotting in a Connecticut storage container\, placing several pieces in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame including the awning and urinals. DESCRIPTION:Richard Hell is a singer\, songwriter\, bass guitarist and writer. Hell was a founder of several important early CBGB punk bands\, including Television and the Heartbreakers\, after which he formed Richard Hell & the Voidoids\, whose 1977 album Blank Generation influenced many other punk groups. Since the mid 1980s\, Hell has devoted himself primarily to writing\, publishing two novels and several other books\, including his acclaimed 2013 autobiography\, I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp. His Destiny Street Complete double CD version of the Voidoids’ 1982 album was released last year. \nHell will be in conversation with Rick Cooper\, a reluctant attorney by day\, a voracious reader of all subjects\, art collector\, music aficionado\, and an admirer of Richard Hell and his talent\, the rest of the time. \nCopies of Hell’s book\, I Dreamed I Was A Very Clean Tramp: An Autobiography are available for purchase on our website and can also be purchased at the event. SUMMARY:FREE WORKSHOP with The Alturas Duo
DESCRIPTION:The Alturas Duo will lead a FREE interactive educational workshop for students ages 5-12 on March 25 at 5pm. Through the workshop\, students will learn to incorporate other art mediums to deepen their understanding and create work inspired by South American folk art. \nTheir workshop will include short musical examples from their repertoire\, and an introduction to the various instruments they play including the viola\, guitar\, charangos and Venezuelan cuatro. Fortunately\, when their good friend Gonzalo Cortes joins\, those instruments expand to include the quena (Andean flute) zampona (pan flutes) and classical flute! The workshop will explain how African\, European and Native cultures came together to create South American folk music as we know it today\, and how natural elements affect everything from the materials used to make instruments (armadillos\, bamboo\, and goat toenails to name a few!) to how musicians use their surroundings to influence their songwriting and rhythms. \nLearn more and register here.
