MoCA Westport announces the appointment of Kristen Young as its first Director of Performing Arts.

Young has served in various capacities at MoCA Westport over the last three years, most recently as the Museum’s Music Associate. Young created the Music at MoCA Concert Series, bringing a diverse range of emerging and established artists to the Museum, including Jazz at Lincoln Center Emerging Artists.

In Young’s expanded role, she will be responsible for curating all performing arts experiences at the Museum, fostering collaborations with other music programs across the region, and providing music education opportunities for the Museum’s constituents.

The appointment signals MoCA Westport’s commitment to providing accessible and high caliber performing arts experiences to the community.

“We’ve had a remarkable response to our Music at MoCA performances, and I plan to expand our programming even further to feature new genres and new exciting collaborations,” stated Young.

“In addition to providing entertainment, performances at MoCA expose audiences to new experiences and create opportunities for emerging artists,” Young added.

Young holds a Master’s in Violin Performance and a Graduate Certificate in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Oklahoma, and a Bachelor’s in Music Management from the University of Delaware. Her musical involvement in the Fairfield County community also includes serving as a violin instructor at the Westport School of Music and serving on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for the Greater CT Youth Orchestras.
