Join MoCA CT for a screening of Ben Shapiro’s 2012 documentary, Brief Encounters, followed by a Q+A with photographer Angela Strassheim on Thursday July 31 at 7pm. Brief Encounters documents internationally acclaimed photographer Gregory Crewdson’s pursuit of his signature, surreal, and meticulously staged portraits of suburban life. Crewdson orchestrates dramatic, large – scale productions, setting houses ablaze, constructing 90 – foot sets with crews of sixty, and temporarily closing city streets, to manifest his haunting vision of American existence, reflecting his own anxieties, dreams, and inner desires. Brief Encounters offers an intimate study of one of our era’s most celebrated image – makers.
