MoCA\CT presents Looking for History, featuring artists Rick Shaefer, Ellen Harvey, and Michael Borders—each showcased in a dedicated gallery space at different points throughout the exhibition, on view June 25 through November 15, 2026.
In recognition of the United States’ 250th anniversary, the exhibition invites visitors into a series of distinct yet interconnected conversations that reflect on the nation’s past, examine its present, and imagine its future.

Architectural Elegy: A Mourning Ritual for Lost Spaces
Honor the places that shaped your life in this meditative ceremony led by Dannielle Tegeder of Hilma’s Ghost. Inspired by Ellen Harvey’s The Disappointed Tourist and generously sponsored by The CORA Foundation, participants create ephemeral memorials through drawing, storytelling, and ritual. All materials provided. All are welcome.

Gallery Talk with Rick Shaefer
Join us for an intimate, one-hour walkthrough with artist Rick Shaefer as he brings his exhibition, Colossi, to life through personal insights and behind-the-scenes perspectives. Shaefer will guide visitors through the works on view, sharing the inspirations, historical references, and creative processes that shape his practice, offering an opportunity for thoughtful discussion. Stay for a Q+A with the artist.
