The Westport Arts Center is thrilled to present the Calidore String Quartet, one of the most exciting of the younger string quartets, on Thursday, April 19 at 7:30pm at the Arts Center. The Calidore were originally scheduled to perform on Friday, Mar 2 and the concert was rescheduled due to weather. All previous ticket purchases will be honored for this new date.

The performance is dedicated to the memory of Howard J. Aibel, who served as a generous sponsor for many of Westport Arts Center concerts over the years. The Calidore String Quartet’s “deep reserves of virtuosity and irrepressible dramatic instinct” (New York Times) and “balance of intellect and expression” (Los Angeles Times) has won them accolades across the globe and firmly established them as one of the finest chamber music ensembles performing today.

The Quartet is comprised of Jeffrey Myers and Ryan Meehan on violin, Jeremy Berry on viola and Estelle Choi on cello. For this performance, the Calidore String Quartet will perform a program including Mozart’s Divertimento in F Major, K. 138, Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 9 in E-flat Major, Op. 117, Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in D Major, Op. 44 No. 1 and Caroline Shaw’s First Essay, “Nimrod” (2016).
